or 1845 - The January 29, 1845, issue of the Onondaga Standard reported the death of Benjamin Depuy who died at Lysander (Cold Spring Settlement) on the 19th at age 79 years. Mr. Depuy was one of the first settlers in the town. [Riverside Cemetery records state that he died 1842 at the age of 90]

My name is Kevin C. DePuy, son of Floyd DePuy Sr, son of William J. DePuy, son of Elias G. DePuy who was born in Rochester, Ulster County in 1787. I have the photo of Elias's gravestone which states his wife was Jane McCutcheon, grave is in Ulster Heights Cemetary, Ulster Heights, NY, could Benjamin Jr be Elias's father? According to an affidavit given by Ben Jr, (appearing b4 a court in 1832 for civil war benefits) (court was in Onondaga) he states that family records were burned in 1779, date of birth would have been 12-29-1764, I can be reached kevincoreyd@yahoo.com, I also have a site on ancestry.com

ReplyDeleteI am a little confused...I have a headstone photo from Baldwinsville for Catherine DePuy wife of Rufus Rogers with a birth year of 1821. I am trying to find documentation to Benjamin Jr now and am certain that she is the same Catherine you have with 1801 as a birth year. How did you come to that date? I appreciate seeing Kevin's comment here. We have corresponded via Ancestry.com before. Finally understand our connection with my 5th great grandfather being brother to his Elias.
